Project Engineer PV / Hybrid

Objectives: As Project Engineer you will be part of the EMEA engineering team, working with the international colleagues in our subsidiaries. You will be responsible for all technical issues within the different project phases. Among other tasks you will support the local Sales and PD teams in the bid preparation, coordinate the system design packages, support the construction and the commission phase of the PV or Hybrid plants.

Primary responsibilities:

  • system specification, design and lay-out of PV plants for the EMEA market, using tools such PVSyst and AutoCAD,
  • create electrical schematics, wire sizing, determine quantities, select components and specify all components to provide the optimal configuration,
  • complete drafting of technical drawings,
  • technical support for proposal preparation,
  • support component evaluation, specification and selection based on cost vs performance benefit,
  • review contract technical requirements and prepare requirements tracking mechanism,
  • ensure compliance with technical requirements and facilitate close out of open issues,
  • implementation of system design standards and optimisations proposed by International system design and construction teams from EMEA,
  • document control, maintain engineering folder structure and prepare document registers,
  • preparation of inspection and test procedures for FAT & SAT, conduct associated inspections and witness tests,
  • on-site verification of installation & testing in accordance with design, procedures. Regulations, standards and codes,
  • grid access and connection discussions/approval,
  • compliance to juwi standards and to regional standards and regulations,
  • ensure seamless technical documentation of PV power plants,
  • technical advisory and technical support for Project Development, Project Management, Operation & Maintenance, Sales and Project Finance departments.

Candidate requirements: Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

  • Engineering qualification, preferably in electrical engineering.
  • Five years’ work experience in solar business.
  • Knowledge of BESS technologies would be beneficial.
  • Clear understanding and working experience of solar PV plant design.

  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Good command of PVSyst and Homer Pro.

PV Project Engineer

Objectives: To understand the client’s requirement, no matter if our client is our internal project development group or an external company sourcing for an engineering, procurement and construction work. About the role

The Construction Manager will be responsible for on-site management and construction of commercial & industrial (C&I) scale solar PV EPC projects in Italy and the EMEA Region, including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance; cost, quality, schedule, integration, stakeholders, logistics and security. Focus on quality management and control is paramount. This position is regarded as a hands-on, site based, skilled construction management role.
 

Primary responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful on-site execution of C&I solar PV EPC projects from construction planning and establishment through commissioning, energisation and handover.
  • Formal construction management in accordance with company procedures & processes, legislation, standards and industry best practise; including technical, cost, schedule, quality, and stakeholder aspects.
  • The Construction Manager will report to the Technical Director of juwi Italy and the Head of Construction EMEA 
  • Responsible for management and reporting on construction and commissioning progress (schedule, costs, risk, quality, SHE, compliance etc.).
  • Adopt, implement and improve where necessary the juwi construction management standards/ processes to minimize project risk and maximize performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all specifications and requirements in accordance with drawings and specification associated with construction quality, test & commissioning and handover.
  • Responsible for achieving construction schedule and payment milestones, including preparation/ compilation of all supporting documentation.
  • Coordination and cooperation with relevant internal and external interfaces.
  • Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements in the Region.
  • Responsible for the technical handover to O&M and/or the Owner 

Candidate requirements

juwi is looking for the following qualifications, experience and personal attributes:

  • Engineering or master degree or High school diploma (civil, mechanical,), Electrical qualification would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years construction management experience in Electrical infrastructure projects with overall responsibility, 2 years of which gained managing large scale solar PV plants including grid connection (MV).
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally (suppliers and customers).
  • A proven track record in successfully delivering projects on time, on budget, safely and compliant with technical & quality requirements and standards.
  • Experience of working autonomously, as the position requires leadership, decision making and problem solving.

On-site Logistics Coordinator

About the role
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for on-site logistics planning and coordination on solar PV EPC projects in Greece including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance, quality, schedule and integration control.

Primary responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Construction Manager, the on-site Logistics Coordinator will work with Project Purchasing, off-site Logistics, Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure compliant project execution. 
  • Managing and planning of on-site logistics, supported by the Supply Chain Manager/ off-site Logistics Coordinator.
  • Responsible for laydown & staging area, incoming & outgoing transport flow and on-site route planning in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Monitor traffic management, coordination with neighbouring projects including provincial & access road condition inspections prior to sensitive equipment deliveries. Responsible for observing maximum transportation loads and vehicle lengths.
  • Responsible for incoming goods receipt, quality inspections, offloading & placement and associated supporting documentation as required in order to achieve contractual obligations and payment milestones. Close collaboration with Accounting department.
  • Monitor on site material stock levels in accordance with the project schedule and provide early warning for potential construction risks/ delays.
  • Implement the required systems, processes, documents, templates, etc. required for:
    • Supplier/ subcontractor warehousing and delivery tracking
    • Incoming inspections and goods receipt
    • Claims management
    • On site storage and stock levels
  • Ensure compliance with the project Health and Safety regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements in Greece.
  • Determine logistics and offloading resource (persons and equipment) levels to attain schedule milestones and ensure conformance with the construction plan.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports & records.
  • Ensure risk assessments, method statements and rigging studies are submitted and approved prior to on site delivery, offloading and placement.
  • Liaising with suppliers and forwarding companies, resolving issues.
  • Training of unskilled resources to perform incoming inspections and goods receipt.

Candidate requirements

  • Supply chain, logistics, procurement, business management and/or engineering background
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role at comparable level
  • Good communication skills, able to communicate at all levels and resolve labour conflict
  • A proven track record in successfully implementing construction logistics for projects
  • Demonstrable experience of managing Subcontractors to stringent time and quality metrics
  • Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite, including MS Project
  • Conversant with construction, labour, environmental and safety requirements and legislation
  • Fluent in English and Greek

Desirable attributes

  • Experience in working within the Renewable Energy Sector, preferably photovoltaics. 
  • Qualification and experience in working with forklifters / telehandlers or similar machinery.

Control Room Operator

About the role

The Control Room Operator will be manning the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Control Room, which is currently under development. He/she will be responsible for continuously monitoring and analysing the operation and performance of the PV plants under O&M by juwi within EMEA and alerting the local teams in case of incidents

Primary responsibilities

  • Utilize the remote monitoring system installed in the PV plants, to continuously check the smooth running of all equipment (inverters, strings, sensors, etc).
  • Analyze the daily performance of the PV plants, based on pre-specified procedures.Identify, investigate (at first level), record, communicate and follow up on any incident of technical failure or underperformance of the equipment, on a clearly structured way.
  • Exploit all potentials of the existing remote monitoring systems and contribute in the further development of monitoring tools, processes and procedures.
  • Closely cooperate with local EMEA O&M teams, as well as juwi´s HQ in Worrstadt-Germany.
  • Work in shifts, covering all sunshine hours for EMEA region, for 365 days per year.
  • Situated in Athens´s juwi office.   

Candidate requirements

  • Degree (TEI or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience, of at least 2 years, in the monitoring of PV plants or other power generating plants
  • Experience in the Operation and Maintenance of PV plants
  • Experience in the operation of MV substations would be beneficial
  • Good communicator on an international level

Objectives

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for all project related work and corporate housekeeping matters:  

  • Will manage project contracts and ensure a timely response to notifications, variations and project needs
  • In case of claims will prepare answers and proposals to reject or settle such claims
  • Will act as the contact person for the colleagues, ensuring that the contract scope is being delivered and aligns with legal obligations

Primary responsibilities

  •  Drafting, reviewing and negotiation of all sorts of agreements, particularly project development agreements, land lease agreements, PPAs, EPC contracts, supply agreements, service agreements, financial contracts, consultancy agreements, cooperation and joint venture agreements and all related agreements
  • Reviewing Project finance loan documents & shareholder agreements
  • Manage project contracts (supplier as well as client side) and ensure a timely response to notifications, variations and project needs in coordination with project manager and site team
  • Control cost and legal obligations by setting up and maintaining a project budget & warranties, and cost-reporting system covering all procured equipment and services aligned with project manager
  • Support project manager in handling and negotiating supplier/ subcontractor variations, change orders etc
  • Establishment and maintaining of companies and corporations (including drafting of minutes and shareholder resolutions)
  • Representation of juwi in front of courts, administration institutions, arbitration cases and other third parties or keyholders, whenever such representation requires the legal support 
  • Maintain current knowledge of procurement legislation and implement good practices
  • Manage and administer supply/ subcontract enquiries, quotations and ordering process including tracking order fulfilment for the project
  • Ensure the business adheres to legislation and good practice in all procurement activities
  • Evaluate, select and coordinate external counsels 
  • Fostering relationships and networking within the legal community

Candidate requirements

  • Degree in Law (Additional Postgraduate diploma will be considered an asset)
  • Must be qualified to practice Law in Greece (Bar Association membership)
  • At least 5 years of experience preferably in commercial law with proven expertise in contract drafting / management 
  • Experience in constructions environment, preferably in Renewable Energy, will be considered an asset
  • Computer literacy with excellent skills in MS Word
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written in order to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (English and Greek)
  • Experience working in an international matrix organizational structure will be considered an asset
