Solar power on difficult terrain

The project
After a ten-year break, JUWI has once again constructed a solar park in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Kreimbach solar park is located in the district of Kusel and went into operation in mid-2023. It has a total output of 8.6 megawatts and feeds 9,700 megawatt hours into the grid each year. That is enough to supply around 3,000 households with electricity. While JUWI is responsible for technical operations management, the plant is operated by MVV.

Difficult construction conditions
The construction of the solar park presented a number of challenges before it could be commissioned. First, there was the rocky subsoil, which was already occupied by many other cables and in which a 7.6-kilometer-long cable route had to be laid. The slope, with an incline of up to 20 degrees, also made the work more difficult for the tradespeople. In addition, there were extreme weather conditions such as snow, hail, storms, and rain. The latter temporarily turned the construction site into a slide.
