Power Purchase Agreement – Green electricity for Deutsche Bahn

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
The Mannheim-based energy company MVV and Deutsche Bahn signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) at the end of 2023. MVV will supply DB with a total of around 160 GWh, or 160 million kilowatt hours, of green electricity over a period of four years. This move will enable both companies to continue driving forward the energy transition. PPAs are increasingly becoming an important instrument that benefits both sides. Customers secure certified green electricity at a predictable price, and plant operators receive a fixed long-term remuneration.

Where does the electricity come from?
The green electricity comes from three PV parks that JUWI built. The Röckingen solar park is located in Bavaria and was conntected to the grid in 2021. The Bremelau and Heudorf solar parks are located in Baden-Württemberg. Like Röckingen, Bremelau was connected to the grid in 2021. The Heudorf PV park was completed in 2022, making it the newest of JUWI's three projects. Together, the three solar parks have a total capacity of 35.6 megawatts peak.
