Aerino Solar Park masters technical challenges
An existing natural gas pipeline ran directly through the planned construction site, which required precise planning and close coordination with the relevant authorities.
The project
The solar power plant in Aerino in the region of Volos in Central Greece was developed for the client AERINO Energy. The project provided a special challenge for JUWI due to the existence of a natural gas pipeline which crosses the middle of the field on which the solar power plant was built. However, this challenge was overcome and the plant was comissioned in February 2013.
Over 20,000 solar panels now generate 8.4 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually, succient to supply approximately 1,800 homes. The solar power plant also prevents the emission of 5,700 tons of CO2 per year.
