Increase in capacity in Reuth through repowering

The project
In the Vulkaneifel district, the repowering project in Reuth, another key initiative in the regional energy transition, was connected to the grid in 2026. As part of the repowering programme, nine older wind turbines were replaced by three new, more powerful turbines. The three new 5.5-megawatt wind turbines together supply electricity to over 18,000 households. The site is thus making a significant contribution to the region’s climate-friendly energy supply and increasing output compared with the old turbines.

New energy for the Vulkaneifel
The repowering project in Reuth demonstrates how modern wind energy technology can significantly boost the performance of existing sites. With a rated output of 5.5 megawatts each and rotor blades over 78 metres long, the three new Enercon turbines harness the wind potential in the Vulkaneifel particularly efficiently. The first two turbines have been feeding climate-friendly electricity into the grid since February 2026, and the wind farm has been fully operational since the installation was completed at the end of July 2026. Now that it is fully operational, the site is making an important contribution to the region’s sustainable energy supply, thereby strengthening the role of wind power in the Vulkaneifel.

Repowering boosts performance
The Reuth wind farm exemplifies the ongoing technological progress in wind energy. The three Enercon turbines installed there are part of the high-performance generation of modern onshore wind farms and make efficient use of the site’s wind potential. Reuth thus joins a wide range of projects through which JUWI is driving forward the expansion of renewable energy and supporting the transformation of the energy system.
