Solar PV EPC projects | Mining Client | Full-time fixed term - 12 months | Start April 2023 | Perth or Brisbane, Australia

The Australian subsidiary has been operating since 2015 is currently delivering multiple utility scale and hybrid renewable projects located both on-grid and off-grid. Driven by the increasing demand for utility scale solar and wind systems, JUWI is expanding its delivery capability in Australia. JUWI has offices in Perth and Brisbane.

Objectives

We’re looking for candidates with an Electrical Engineering degree and project experience within the renewable energy space to extend the Australian part of our international Project Engineering Team. The ability to bring PV projects from concept design to execution design and support through to commissioning is a strength you have. Additionally, you should also have great critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and a go getter attitude to support all aspects technically related to the project.
 
The role is for 12-month engagement with scope to extend and an exciting utility scale PV project for a large mining operation to support. The role put you into the mix of a team of world class professionals providing technical support from around the globe and let you be part of decarbonizing Australia’s resource sector.
 
Responsibilities
The key roles for the PV Engineer will be the design and engineering of Solar PV Systems during Sales and Execution phase, as outlined below:
  • Application of Engineering knowledge to design Solar PV (~5MWp to ~100MWp+).
  • Create and review electrical schematics, cable calculations, determine quantities, select equipment and specify all components to provide the optimal configuration for PV projects.
  • Create designs for the balance of plant for PV projects.
  • Undertake system modelling (HOMER, PVsyst, internal tools)
  • Ability to apply Australian and customer specific standards to projects.
  • Technical support during construction / execution design.
  • Support component evaluation, specification and selection based on cost vs. performance benefit.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders (project managers, project engineers, product engineers, procurement, sales team;) and external stakeholders to ensure consistent communication.
  • Visit project sites to gather design data
  • Support Australian projects largely remotely with design assessments and your expertise

Your Profile

  • Electrical engineering degree (or similar)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in battery-storage and/or solar system design
  • Strong understanding of solar (Photovoltaic) power systems
  • Ability to work within a local and international design team
  • Strong understanding and skills of design programs/systems (Homer, PVSyst, AutoCAD etc)
  • Good written / spoken communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team spirit
  • Ability to visit site on several occasions (design kick-off, construction kick-off, mid-construction, commissioning) and currently holding Construction White Card
Desirable attributes
  • Previous resources sector experience and/or construction experience
  • CPEng status
  • Open-minded and flexible
  • Possess a strong drive and have sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of independent decision-making
  • Result and detailed-orientated approach
