JUWI is an EPC company and the procurement of high-quality equipment at the correct price-performance point is a hugely important driver of our success in the markets.  JUWI Global has a matrix structure with supply chain teams in all major territories including at headquarters in Germany.  The regional teams enjoy support from Germany for company-approved equipment procurement but are largely autonomous in relation to project-related decisions.  This position is in a team of four in the South African office.  There is strong potential for growth given the pipeline that we have developed and that includes hybrid and energy storage solutions.  The team is closely aligned with JUWI’s Enterprise Development activities. 
The Project Purchaser (m/f/d) will be responsible for all project related purchasing activities, amongst other, strong knowledge of subcontractor services in our renewable energy projects in South Africa or in other countries e.g., in EMEA. Reporting to the Team Lead Project Supply Chain Africa, the Project Purchaser (m/f/d) will support the Project Manager, Quality Officer, Construction Manager and other involved departments as required for each project or projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Generally, ensure a cost-quality optimized value chain of PV, and showing a strong acumen for subcontracting services, which are contracted for our projects, on suitable terms for delivery, cost, payments and quality and to meet project milestones.
Contract Management
  • Creation, negotiation and adaption of project related and framework contracts (NDA, MoU, condition, delivery, work and service contracts, etc.) in cooperation with related departments, e.g., engineering or legal department
  • In collaboration with the legal department, managing the documentation of contract negotiations accordingly.
Risk / process management
  • Supply chain-related risk and cost optimization in the projects, taking into account the overarching project requirements
  • Continuous process and workflow optimization in the projects as part of the continual improvement strategy set forth by JUWI’s ISO strategy.
Reporting and key figures
  • Creation of comparisons of offers and price tables, including an award proposal
  • In collaboration with Project Cost controlling, ensure updating of monthly cost-reporting based on existing reporting templates
  • In collaboration with Supplier and Project Quality, recognize and report quality defects, bottlenecks and other deviations and minimize negative effects across departments
Supplier management
  • In collaboration with the Engineering Team, lead the selection of suitable suppliers and service providers for project related tasks, taking into account the project requirements and the purchasing strategy
  • Participation in project-specific qualification of new suppliers and service providers in collaboration with other functional teams
  • Share supplier performance Information to SQM and the respective Product Specialist about the performance of suppliers in the project in particular as part of the annual supplier evaluation
Procurement management
  • In collaboration with the Project Expeditor, manage the project deliveries according to agreed project schedules, incl. logistics and customs related topics
  • Managing of project related deviations in coordination with related departments (e.g. project management, construction)

Your Profile

  • Degree in engineering or business management or comparable qualification
  • At least 5 years’ experience in above mentioned responsibilities in Supply Chain, or construction
  • Experience in contract negotiations incl. negotiations with international suppliers. Strong acumen on FIDIC based contracts
  • Combination of commercial and technical understanding
  • Experience in handling of Renewable Energy Projects, e.g., photovoltaics and/or battery systems would be advantageous.
  • Fluent English: Afrikaans is an advantage
