Objectives
The Construction Technician will be responsible for onsite quality assurance of Electrical / Mechanical construction works, Installation of electrical and mechanical equipment or devices on the solar PV EPC projects in South Africa including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance, quality, schedule, and integration control.
Primary Responsibilities
The Construction Technician will be responsible for onsite quality assurance of Electrical / Mechanical construction works, Installation of electrical and mechanical equipment or devices on the solar PV EPC projects in South Africa including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance, quality, schedule, and integration control.
Primary Responsibilities
- Repair, install, replaces and testing of electrical circuits using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment, appliances and apparatus.
- Constructing or fabricating parts, using hand tools (Jigs / templates)
- Reading and understanding of drawings (electrical or mechanical)
- Reporting to the Construction Manager and the Construction Team Leader, the Construction technician will work with the Electrical / Mechanical Supervisor and Subcontractors.
- Responsible for inspection, supervision, and reporting on construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards in accordance with company procedures & processes, legislation, standards and industry best practice
- Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements in Italy
- Responsible for daily construction reports & records, as well as preparation and review of work procedures, QCP’s and ITP’s
- Act as assistant to the Electrical/Mechanical Supervisor and take lead when he/she absent.
Your Profile
Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical Technician / Trade Test Qualification
- Minimum of 5 years construction technician experience in electrical infrastructure projects, 2 years utility scale solar PV plants experience
- Good communication skills, written and spoken
- A proven track record in successfully completing construction on time, safely and compliant with technical & quality requirements and standards
- Conversant with construction management (control and monitoring) tools, MS Office, etc.
- Conversant with construction, labour, environmental and safety requirements and legislation
- Quick thinker
- Fluent in English
