Project Engineer PV / Hybrid

Objectives: As Project Engineer you will be part of the EMEA engineering team, working with the international colleagues in our subsidiaries. You will be responsible for all technical issues within the different project phases. Among other tasks you will support the local Sales and PD teams in the bid preparation, coordinate the system design packages, support the construction and the commission phase of the PV or Hybrid plants.

Project Manager

Objectives: 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful closure and execution of the project. They will be responsible for project management from inception to handover, including full responsibility for budget & timelines, cost, quality, contracts, engineering, integration, HSE, construction, commissioning and stakeholder management within a matrix organization part of the Asia Pacific region.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Accountable for the successful outcome of solar PV EPC(M) projects from financial close through commissioning, energisation and handover
  • Formal project management of EPC(M), Supplier and Sub-contracts including engineering, commercial and stakeholder aspects
  • Reporting to the Head of Operations APAC, the Project Manager will manage the project team (matrix structure) and work with Business Development, Construction Management, Engineering, Consultants, Customers and local authorities to ensure financial close and compliant project execution
  • Manage and report on progress – scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, HSE, contracts etc.
  • Implement, improve and maintain project management guidelines, processes, tools and procedures to ensure a structured project execution approach, minimize project risk and maximize performance
  • Responsible for achieving contractual milestones and management of liquidity, schedule, costs as per EPC(M) contracts and project baselines
  • Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements in Australia

Requirements:

Senior Finance Manager (Business Controller)

Objectives: 

The Senior Finance Manager (Business Controller) will be a key member of the APAC finance team, working closely with the APAC Finance Director, country finance managers and project managers to maintain and improve financial controls within the APAC region. Primary Responsibilities

Business Planning and Reporting:

  • Business Planning for various countries within the APAC region.

Bond planning:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Finance.

Deputy PM / Project Coordinator

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate execution and delivery of project schedules and help deviate and adjust schedules to support ontime project requirements while keeping juwi's high quality management practices

About the role

juwi Italy is a growing market player with an aggressive expansion target over the medium term. In this context the successful candidate will have responsibilities within different areas or departments of the operational business, while it is anticipated will increasingly focus on one of these core responsibilities as the business develops. 

juwi is a matrix organization with presence in many countries, and as such your direct line manager will be the MD of juwi Italy and your functional reporting will be to Heads of the relevant EMEA Operations Departments.

Primary responsibilities as O&M Manager (m/f/d):

  • Oversee the local O&M activities and manage the local O&M employees & main subcontractors,

  • Set up and manage a network of local suppliers and subcontractors for our EPC projects in Italy,

  • Lead the negotiation of contract terms and pricing based on existing contract templates and in close cooperation with other involved departments,

Objectives

As a Project Developer you will be responsible for all procedures and activities related to the development of photovoltaic projects.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Manage the entire project development process from site selection or co-development to completion of development and financial close. Support projects until commercial operation date.
  • Management of project development consultants, project developers and co-development partners as well as international and local development stakeholders.
  • Pursuing various land entitlements including local, state and federal permitting.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of sites and projects shortlisted for co-development or acquisition being mindful of economic, administrative, environmental, contractual and technical considerations.
  • Close land lease or purchase agreements with land owners and tenants.
  • Work with local authorities to obtain planning permits, licenses and clearances as well as other necessary documentations such as, PPA, planning and construction permission, environmental impact assessments and grid connection studies with internal and external service providers.
  • Close interaction with Corporate HQ in Germany, in particular: Corporate Legal, Finance and Controlling.
  • Develop and maintain necessary personal networks to stakeholders at different levels that effect the successful development of projects such as public authorities on local, regional and national level as well as environmental groups, industry associations, grid operators or service providers.
  • Regular reporting of project development status and project pipeline.
  • Support the annual budgeting and quarterly / monthly forecasting process of the juwi Group.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

  • University Degree in Engineering or other relevant discipline. Management studies at a post-graduate level will be considered a plus.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in RE licencing procedure. Experience in photovoltaics is a must have.
  • Experience of environmental conditions and knowledge of all related law and regulations.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office. Knowledge of MS Project & Design Tools will be considered a plus.
  • Fluent in Greek and in English (verbal & writing).

Project Development Manager

Title of position: Project Development Manager

Starting Date: 1 June 2021 or sooner

Objectives:

The Project Development Unit predominantly develops utility-scale solar, wind and hybrid projects to be bid in the REIPPPP (or other sovereign backed programs in Africa) or used as the basis of possible utility scale embedded or wheeling projects in the future.  As a Project Development Manager within juwi, you will be required to manage the various project development tasks necessary. Depending on each market and business model, these tasks variously include site selection, land acquisition, plant layout, permitting and the commercial negotiations for the sale of equity and procurement of goods and services. These tasks cover the development phase through financial close to construction phase support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project management of multiple wind, solar and hybrid projects in various stages of development, ensuring completion within budget and on schedule:
    • Develop an understanding of the relationship between site selection, technical design and project economics in order to be able to develop the best possible projects (optimised at capex or tariff level)
    • Using GIS and other tools, assisting in the identification of project sites
    • Assisting with landowner negotiations
    • Establishment and management of the project budget
    • Assisting with plant design tasks including turbine, PV array, road and electrical layouts
    • Management of the various project licensing tasks including liaising with the statutory organisations that administer the various approvals and permits necessary 
    • Assisting with investor selection processes
    • Assisting in tender submissions
    • Developing, negotiating and closing development and project site sales agreements 
    • Assisting with high level financial modelling processes
    • Project risk mitigation and reporting
    • Recording and reporting of project progress
    • Project development support to the C&I Sales, EPC Sales and Hybrid Sales teams; depending on the particular project, such support being varying combinations of the above tasks
  • Participation in project and programme reviews when required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Engineering, Business or Natural Science
  • Proven ability to speak and write fluently in English
  • High degree of project development experience within the renewable energy sector (ideally within REIPPPP) or in other industries facing similar challenges, such as infrastructure and construction 
  • Proven commercial experience in the negotiation of Project Sale Agreements 
  • Possession of a valid, South Africa Code 08 driver’s license 
  • Motivated, driven and ability to self-manage
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Proven ability to work within a small project development team
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively

Desirable Attributes:

  • A degree in Engineering, Business Science. Law or similar 
  • Cash flow modelling experience
  • Proven experience in the successful negotiation of land acquisition agreements.
  • Thorough understanding of the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) Environmental Authorisation assessment process; ideally with respect to renewable energy projects
  • Able to perform research, write articles and present to an audience

Other:

  • Willingness to travel to relevant project sites in Africa and juwi head office in Germany will be required in line with business requirements 
  • In addition to the duties mentioned above, the job holder is required to perform administrative duties related to a standard project management role
