About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful closure and execution of the project. They will be responsible for project management from inception to handover, including full responsibility for budget & timelines, cost, quality, contracts, engineering, integration, HSE, construction, commissioning and stakeholder management within a matrix organization part of the Asia Pacific region.

  • accountable for the successful outcome of solar PV EPC(M) projects from financial close through commissioning, energisation and handover,

Qualification & Experience

  • Tier 1 Mining experience essential.
  • An engineering, natural science, quantity surveying or environmental planning degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years of successful project management track record in the Australian power, energy or construction industry.
  • Proven track record of managing complex proprietary or standard form contracts.
  • Strong negotiation, excellent communication skills and successful at relationship building across a broad range of levels.
  • Proven track record of managing and motivating project teams in a matrix organizational structure.
  • Team player with exceptional communication skills, a self-starter with strong problem solving and creativity aspects and a passion for renewable energies.

About the role

As O&M Site Engineer (m/f/d), you will be part of the Operation & Maintenance department and responsible for all O&M activities at site.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Over-all in charge of all O&M activities at site.

About the role: 

As the engineering lead you will be responsible for the technical aspects of delivering renewable energy projects. The ability to lead project engineering teams to completion is a strength you have, and your knowledge and understanding of the sales process to construction execution process is sound. Additionally, you should also have critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills and a go getter attitude to understand all aspects technically related to the project and the overall business. Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible to manage and evaluate site studies in cooperation with 3rd parties such as Geotechnical Study, Hydrological Study, Topographical Study, Site characterisation (assessments), Pull out test.
  • Create design drawings and perform calculations for construction roads, trenches, foundations, piling, storm water management, cut and fill and drainage, etc.

About the role

The Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Site Technician (m/f/d) will be responsible for efficient and quality execution of the day-to-day operations site solar rooftop business while continually driving process improvements. As the need requires, contact communication and management of various vendors and contractors at site.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Carry out all O&M activities as per prescribed norms/contractual requirements/ Standard operating procedures/ and ensure legal and statutory compliance in all rooftop sites
  • Perform all the Preventive Maintenance Schedule at site (Module cleaning, PMS of all equipment e.g., DCCB, Solar Modules, Cables, Inverters, ACCB, Transformers, Switchgears) and ensure a timely completion as per contract requirements and planned schedule.

About the role

Primary Responsibilities

  • Project purchasing:
  • Ensure cost-quality optimized goods and services are purchased for our projects, on suitable terms for delivery, cost, payments and quality to meet project timescales and milestones, with specific focus on BESS, inverters (battery/ PV), BMS (battery management systems) micro-controllers, SCADA, related hardware and services including but not limited to pre-bid qualification, pre-shipment 3rd party testing, FAT / SAT, commissioning and O&M services.

About the role

As a Commissioning Engineer (m/f/d)  you will be actively involved in commissioning of Solar PV and Hybrid projects in various countries within the EMEA region.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Execute and/or supervise through internal and external stakeholders, all the activities and tests related to commissioning of the plant in compliance with the approved Commissioning Plan, protocols and procedures and ensure that warranty conditions and suppliers obligations are fulfilled.
  • Supervise the tests and commissioning activities of the park internal MV grid, support and/or execute all MV switching activities,
  • Supervise the tests and commissioning activities of grid connection and substations including grid compliance tests (Active power, reactive power, voltage and frequency test),
  • Troubleshoot the systems during the commissioning stage to bring the plant to operation in phase with the commissioning schedule,
  • Supervise the execution to the Provisional Acceptance Tests (Performance guarantee test),
  • Participate and provide support to the preparation & review of project specific Inspection and Test Plans,
  • Review test and commissioning protocols/ procedures submitted by original equipment manufacturers, product suppliers and system integrators,
  • Participate to design reviews to ensure that constraints from commissioning have been properly considered in the design package,
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders of the project including juwi Construction, H&S and Quality to ensure the commissioning activities are completed safely and under the resource and timeline constraints of the project,

About the role

The Construction Manager will be responsible for on-site management and construction of commercial & industrial (C&I) scale solar PV EPC projects in Italy and the EMEA Region, including full responsibility for technical, environmental and safety compliance; cost, quality, schedule, integration, stakeholders, logistics and security. Focus on quality management and control is paramount. This position is regarded as a hands-on, site based, skilled construction management role.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful on-site execution of C&I solar PV EPC projects from construction planning and establishment through commissioning, energisation and handover,
  • Formal construction management in accordance with company procedures & processes, legislation, standards and industry best practise; including technical, cost, schedule, quality, and stakeholder aspects,
  • You will report to the Technical Director of juwi Italy and the Head of Construction EMEA,
  • Responsible for management and reporting on construction and commissioning progress (schedule, costs, risk, quality, SHE, compliance etc.),       
  • Adopt, implement and improve where necessary the juwi construction management standards/ processes to minimize project risk and maximize performance,

About the role

As a SCADA Field Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the correct installation and implementation of the SCADA in the field until its final testing.
This includes but is not limited to support, system design works but also providing support on site during the construction phase.
Nowadays the SCADA system has become one of the main components of a renewable energy power plant, the complexity of the systems and their integration requires a strong knowledge of transmission protocols.
As SCADA commissioning engineer you will be faced with the challenge of having to establish effective communication between equipment that, sometimes, has never done it before.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Execute and/or supervise all required test and commissioning activities on SCADA and Instrumentation equipment in compliance with the approved Commissioning Plan, protocols and procedures,
  • Supervise the tests and commissioning activities for full integration of grid connection SCADA system,
  • Responsible for all SCADA requirements of a PV, Battery, Wind power plants and Grid substation,
  • Troubleshoot the communication networks and all SCADA devices and instruments during the commissioning stage to bring the SCADA system to full operation in phase with the commissioning schedule of the project,

About the role

Due to further expansion, we are looking for a Project Finance Manager (m/f/d) to be based in Athens, Greece.  This position will lead the project level financial modelling and provide transactional support to the project teams in Greece (Business Development, Sales, EPC and O&M). The role will also act as the key subject matter expert from a project finance perspective and will report directly to the Managing Director.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide valuation and structuring guidance throughout the business development and sale process, advising on commercial agreements, risk allocation, bankability of contracts (including PPAs), financing alternatives, and expected investment returns.
  • Actively engage with prospective counterparties to clarify project valuation, risk allocation, assumptions and market perspectives.
  • Collect and analyze relevant data such as energy price curves, PPA assumptions, tax, financial inputs etc, using analytical tools and advanced models in order to create financial model assumption, predicting and qualifying risk and profitability.
  • Gather & handle financial modeling data with accuracy in order to help JUWI team with investment decisions for project development and acquisition opportunities.
  • Define and support internal stakeholders in the energy sale strategy for each project (PPA vs merchant approach, auctions pricing definition.).
  • Develop creative financing strategies and examine the most competitive sources of funding.
  • Organize and conduct the process for financial partner/lender selection, including preparing teasers, IMs, and participating in the outreach.
  • Support JUWI team in clarifying project valuation, risk allocation, assumptions and market perspectives.
  • Lead the negotiation of key financial terms of the transaction documents.
  • Manage multiple parties including banks, consultants, lawyers as well as internal stakeholders to bring transactions to successful close.
  • Support and engage with the Corporate Finance team in accounting, controlling and treasury matters, including participating to Annual Budget definition, reporting to shareholders, pipeline management.
  • Lead the financial modeling and analysis supporting investment decisions for project development and acquisition opportunities.
  • Cooperate with JUWI’s Finance Managers in the EMEA region, to maintain financial model assumptions, while retaining responsibility for the accuracy and correct incorporation of relevant inputs to such models (energy price curves, PPA assumptions, tax, financial inputs etc) for Greece.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or Engineering. Masters, MBA, CFA, CPA, and/or equivalent certifications are an advantage.
  • 5 years of demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing detailed financial models, including a project finance and accounting component.
  • Knowledge of the merchant power markets drivers and hedging instruments.
  • Knowledge of Tax Equity structures and IRS requirements is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting topics.
  • Experience structuring and closing M&A and/or financing transactions, including reviewing and negotiating legal documentation.

About the role

The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the procurement/purchasing activities for projects in Greece and other regions.  Responsibilities will lie in both the project and strategic purchasing areas.  Purchasing scope covers all local supply (goods & services), as well as other supply (in coordination with juwi HQ in Germany). Overall personal responsibility for co-ordination and monitoring of all procurement-related activities (including logistics and post sales related activities) within the project team.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Ensure cost-quality optimized goods and services are purchased for our projects, on suitable terms for delivery, cost, payments and quality to meet project timescales and milestones.
  • Seek, identify and engage appropriate suppliers for project-related goods and services.
  • Lead the negotiation of contract terms and pricing with both internal and external contacts and assist with preparation of related agreements; full responsibility of manage and monitoring compliance of delivery against contracts; enforcement of claims to suppliers in case of deviations e.g. penalties.
  • Support on claim management and related post-sales activities.
  • Clarification of market conditions relating to inter alia local content, imports, exports, credit limits, credit protection framework.
  • Carry out and support supplier qualification based on existing processes with focus on local based suppliers / subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain long-term local supplier and subcontractor relationship.
  • Create and maintain standard and / or framework agreements where needed with local suppliers / subcontractors.
  • Support the development and implementation of purchasing strategy for local projects, based on EMEA and global purchasing strategies, in coordination with Head of Project Supply Chain in Germany and with focus on the local suppliers / subcontractors.
  • Work in conjunction with the JUWI HQ purchasing organization to utilize global supplier framework.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management or in similar discipline.
  • 6 years’ experience in international procurement and supply chain management.
  • Experience of working within the renewable energy industry or in the construction field or in civil / electrical subcontractor services and of managing purchasing & delivery for multiple projects at the same time, is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Full Professional English.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in order to communicate across levels both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and organise own workload.

About the role

The Control Room Operator (m/f/d) will be manning the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Control Room. He/she will be responsible for continuously monitoring and analysing the operation and performance of the PV plants under O&M by JUWI within EMEA, alerting / interacting with the local teams in case of incidents.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Utilize the remote monitoring system installed in the PV plants, to continuously check the smooth running of all equipment (inverters, strings, sensors, etc).
  • Analyze the daily performance of the PV plants, based on pre-specified procedures.
  • Identify, investigate (at first level), record, communicate and follow up on any incident of technical failure or underperformance of the equipment, on a clearly structured way.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System, to register, update and close incidents.
  • Exploit all potentials of the existing remote monitoring systems and contribute in the further development of monitoring tools, processes and procedures.
  • Closely cooperate with local EMEA O&M teams.
  • Work in shifts, covering all sunshine hours for EMEA region, for 365 days per year.
  • Situated in Athens´s JUWI office.   

 

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Degree (AEI or ATEI) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or in Physics.
  • Basic understanding of electricity and energy production.
  • Experience, of at least 2 years, in the monitoring of PV plants or other power generating plants is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in the Operations and Maintenance of PV plants or other power generating plants is highly beneficial.
  • Good communicator on an international level.

About the role

As the O&M Site Engineer / Technician (m/f/d), you will be responsible for managing and/or implementing the maintenance and operations activities of a 204 MWp PV plant located in Kozani. You will report to the O&M Site Manager (m/f/d).

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Ensure all maintenance and operations initiatives are carried out in conjunction with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Closely cooperate with Control Room personnel, in monitoring the plant, attending faults and providing feedback.
  • Perform fault finding and diagnostics on all plant’s equipment.
  • Perform all scheduled (preventive) maintenance activities, inspections and checks, according to the approved plans, schedules and procedures.
  • Conduct MV switching activities and other MV related tasks.

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree (AEI or ATEI) or technical training as Qualified Electrician.
  • Holder (or being eligible for immediate issuing) of Certified Installer / Maintainer License for all categories and sizes of electrical installations (published by the Prefecture Office).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the construction and/or maintenance of PV plants or other powerplants.
  • Working experience in MV/LV substations, including transformers, switchgear, relays, etc.
  • Working experience (including switching) in HV/MV substations will be considered a plus.
  • Experience in the construction, commissioning or O&M of utility scale PV plants will be considered a plus.
  • Experience in working with central PV inverters will be considered a plus.
  • Very good IT skills, good communication skills, good administrative and reporting skills.
  • Ability to remain in control and perform effectively under pressure, along with ability to work under limited supervision.

Primary responsibilities

  • Complete System Design, including: system specification, engineering services, system design documentation reviewing and drafting including, but not limited to, PV Layouts and Electrical Diagrams in accordance with electrical, mechanical and civil International and Local standards.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, wire sizing, determine quantities, select components and specify all components to provide the optimal configuration.

  • Leading role in structuring, negotiation and closure of sales agreements such as EPC and O&M contracts, guarantee packages and related agreements such as co-operation agreements, development agreements, share sale agreements, MOUs, LOIs or similar.
  • Intimate understanding and control of JUWI’s Cost Calculation Methodology, and Heads of Terms Guidelines
  • Familiarity with JUWI OEM and subcontractor Heads of Terms and ability to pass through EPC obligations to suppliers
  • Competitor and market awareness with a focus on contract terms and structures.

About the role

The Project Development Unit predominantly develops utility-scale solar, wind and hybrid projects to be bid in the REIPPPP (or other sovereign backed programs in Africa) or used as the basis of possible utility scale embedded or wheeling projects in the future.  As a Senior Project Development Manager within JUWI, working with and occasionally overseeing less senior members of the Development Team, you will be required to manage the various project development tasks necessary. Depending on each market and business model, these tasks variously include site selection, land acquisition, plant layout, permitting and the commercial negotiations for the sale of equity and procurement of goods and services. These tasks cover the development phase through financial close to construction phase support.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Project management of multiple wind, solar and hybrid projects in various stages of development, ensuring completion within budget and on schedule:

  • Develop an understanding of the relationship between site selection, technical design and project economics in order to be able to develop the best possible projects (optimised at capex or tariff level)
  • Using GIS and other tools, assisting in the identification of project sites
  • Assisting with landowner negotiations
  • Establishment and management of the project budget
  • Assisting with plant design tasks including turbine, PV array, road and electrical layouts
  • Management of the various project licensing tasks including liaising with the statutory organisations that administer the various approvals and permits necessary

About the role

A key part of our business is the identification of suitable properties and thereafter the attainment and maintenance of secure development rights for these properties in order to conduct the project development of our renewable energy projects. The key objective of the Land Acquisition unit in the Project Development Team is to facilitate and manage this process. 

As a Junior Land Acquisition Manager within JUWI, you will be required to assist in managing the various land acquisition task from landowner introductory calls through to the execution of servitude and lease agreements. Managing landowner relationships and upkeep of various spreadsheets and documents.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Regularly liaise with the Land Acquisition Manager and Project Managers regarding identification of potential project sites and/or servitudes
  • Conduct necessary research to identify the landowners of potential project properties
  • Assist and/or lead introductory calls with landowners and arrange JUWI site visits
  • Operating within an agreed range of criteria, assist and/or lead the negotiation process for our lease and/or servitude agreements with Landowners
  • Assist with the conceptualisation, drafting and execution of various Landowner related agreements
  • Liaise with Eskom and/or other relevant authorities on strategic grid routes
  • Assist with third party wayleave agreements
  • Assist in keeping juwi appraised of all negotiations with Landowners and prepare weekly progress reports in a format agreed with the Land Acquisition Manager and Project Development Managers
  • Assist in delivering the original copies of all signed Resolutions, SPA’s, initialled Lease Agreements and Servitude Option Agreements to the offices of JUWI
  • Ensure correct agreements and/or documentation for JUWI and Landowner’s approval which secures land rights
  • Manage annual payments to Landowners and ensure the validity of all Landowner Agreements is maintained in alignment with the current juwi strategy

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or at least 2 years of proven commercial experience
  • Basic understanding of real estate concepts, property law, maps, terminology and contracts.
  • Anthropology skills
  • Track record of effective written and verbal communication in previous roles, both in Afrikaans and English
  • Basic understanding of the Survey General Office and Deeds Office systems
  • Proficient with basic GIS software i.e. Google Earth
  • Possession of a valid South African Driver’s License

 

Desirable Attributes

  • Prior renewable energy industry experience, particularly solar or wind
  • Experience conducting online research to obtain property ownership information i.e. online deeds
  • Track record of effective written and verbal communication with infrastructure project stakeholders including landowners, government/municipal officials, Eskom representatives, and community members
  • Strategic relationship builder with both internal/external project stakeholders demonstrating personal integrity with a win/win mindset

About the role

The EPC Project Manager (m/f/d) is responsible for project management during the execution of the Engineering Procurement and Construction contracts of Hybrid and/or utility scale PV projects in south Africa/ Sub-Saharan Africa. He/ she is fully responsible and accountable for compliance, budget, cost, quality, schedule, risk, contracts, engineering, integration, stakeholders and security.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful execution of solar PV EPC projects from design through energisation and handover
  • Formal project management of EPC and subcontracts including technical, commercial and stakeholder aspects      
  • Manage and report on progress - schedule, costs, risk, quality etc. as and when required by the Company           
  • Responsible for schedule and achievement of contractual milestones
  • Responsible of costs, budget and liquidity/ cash flow
  • Ensure compliance with all the specifications and requirements included in EPC contracts and related project documents
  • Reporting to the Head of EPC, the EPC Project Manager will work with Project Development and Sales, Project Purchasing, Construction Management, Engineering, Consultants, Clients and Authorities to ensure compliant project execution
  • Work closely with Project development and Sales during the finalization of the selling process to coordinate internal work and support project sale
  • Implementation, compliance with JUWI processes and standards
  • Adopt and improve where necessary the standard juwi project management processes to minimize project risk and maximize performance
  • Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements applicable to the project
  • Responsible for handover to O&M and Plant owner for other departments as needed

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering/ Management qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in Electrical infrastructure project management (EPC) with overall responsibility.  At least 3 years Solar PV EPC project Management
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally (both suppliers and customers)
  • Demonstrable experience of project cost, schedule, risk, quality and technical management and control
  • Experience of working autonomously, as the position requires leadership, decision making and problem solving 
  • Conversant with project management tools i.e. MS Project & MS Office, etc. and best practise
  • A good understanding of the electrical grid, South African National Grid Code and grid connection process
  • Conversant with health and safety requirements, commissioning and energization of substations & Solar PV plants
  • Experience of evaluating processes and making appropriate improvements in line with business needs
  • Acquaintance with PMI standards or alternatively industrial standards (to be proven)
  • Experience of contract management and knowledge of standard contract forms – NEC, FIDIC, etc.
  • Fluent in English
  • Demonstrable ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate in a culturally diverse international environment
  • Team player with demonstrable leadership qualities

 

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience of working within the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Program and/or executing projects related to energy supply the mining sector
  • A formal project management qualification
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and/ or German
  • Professionally registered Engineer or Project Manager

About the role

The Operations and Maintenance Asset Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the Solar Capital De Aar 1 PV plant, ensuring the safe, efficient and continuous operation of it.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Asset Manager will be based in Cape Town, South Africa. He / she will, nevertheless, spend a considerable amount of time in the PV plant (est. up to 40% of his / her working time). Other national and international travel may also be required.
  • The Asset Manager will have line reporting directly to the Head of Operations and Maintenance EMEA (based in Athens, Greece).  Functional reporting will be both to the Senior O&M Engineer (based in Cape Town, South Africa), on the technical side, and to the O&M Commercial Manager (based in Cape Town, South Africa), on the commercial side.
  • The main tasks and responsibilities of the Asset Manager will be:
    • Monitoring the technical performance of the plant, identifying areas for improvement and analysing occurrence of underperformance.
    • Monitoring the condition of the equipment / components of the plant and driving technical improvement initiatives.
    • Performing quarterly site audits.
    • Checking the data received from the monitoring system for validity and consistency.
    • Contract management (of the O&M contract, etc).
    • Monitoring the correct implementation of HSE policies and procedures on site, identify and address any gaps.
    • Liaising and coordinating with the authorities (SBO, NERSA, DoE, etc).
    • Liaising and coordinating with consultants (LTA, etc).
    • Planning and monitoring of operational budget.
    • Cost controlling.
    • Verifying of energy invoices received.
    • Managing claim process (for claims to the O&M contractor, the main equipment OEMs and the insurance provider).
    • Monitoring the compliance to the ED/BBBEE obligations.
    • Reporting of technical, performance and cost matters to the plant owner.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • MBA or additional Finance related studies will be considered a plus.
  • Professional Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (Pr.Eng).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing the operation of power plants, both as regards technical management and commercial one.
  • Knowledge and working experience of utility scale PV plants.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and cost controlling techniques.
  • Experience in leading teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Experience in interfacing with clients.
  • Conversant with construction, environmental and safety requirements and legislation.
  • Conversant with the BBBEE scheme.
  • Conversant with the South African grid code, transmission network code, distribution network code, and the South African National Standards (SANS).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking.
  • Able to work under limited supervision.
  • Fluent in English.

 

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience of working within the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme.
  • Experience in running the Operations and Maintenance in PV plants.
