Prague/Wörrstadt, January 12, 2012. 3,000 people in the heart of the Czech Republic could welcome the new year with a good conscience. The reason: They cover their energy needs with regionally produced clean solar power. Thus, they avoid more than 1,200 tons of the harmful greenhouse gas CO2 in one single year. After the successful commissioning in late 2009 and two years of controlled operation, the solar park Morašice has now been sold to the Czech investor Ing. Jiri Fast, under participation of the Czech bank LBBW.
The high-tech plant has been constructed by the juwi group, a specialist for renewable
energies based in Wörrstadt in Rhineland-Palatinate. COO Jochen Magerfleisch is
convinced of the Czech Republic’ s potential, despite reluctant support from the political
side: ”Solar power is a central element of a comprehensive power supply based on
renewable energies. The urgently needed energy transition on a European level based on 100 percent renewable energies cannot be realized without the expansion of solar power.”
In Morašice, 14,200 First Solar thin-film modules with a total capacity of 1,065 kilowatts
peak (kWp) are installed on a Schletter GmbH substructure. Two SMA Sunny Central 500 kW inverters convert the produced energy into alternating current. Since December 2009, power is fed into the Czech grid – with an annual yield of 1.16 million kilowatt hours (kWh).
The juwi group

Our impetus: Work together to implement renewable energies economically and reliably with passion. From site selection to planning, construction and financing up to management – juwi is the competent partner for the energy transition with a regional focus.
Besides solar, wind and bio energy, company activities include hydropower and
geothermal energy as well as Green Buildings and E-mobility. juwi was founded in 1996 by Matthias Willenbacher and Fred Jung in Rhineland-Palatinate. Today, the company employs more than 1,700 people in 15 countries and had an annual turnover of more than a billion Euro in 2011.
Up to date, juwi has constructed around 525 wind turbines with an output of around 920
megawatts; in the solar sector more than 1,500 solar power plants with a total output of
around 950 megawatts. These plants generate around 3.5 billion kilowatt hours of green energy per year; this corresponds to the annual power consumption of approx. a billion households. For the realization of these projects juwi has initiated an investment of more than four billion Euro.
juwi is one of Germany’s best and most sought-after employers. In 2011, the company
