Mumbai / Bangalore, December 14th 2010. juwi goes ahead in India. Starting next year, the renewable energy specialist will realize solar power plants all over the country. Photovoltaic (PV) projects with a total capacity in excess of 100 megawatts (MW) are scheduled to be installed in the coming years. Moreover, the juwi group (Germany), one of the leading project developers for sun and wind power, has established a branch office in Bangalore, known as the IT-capital of India.
juwi India Renewable Energies will realize photovoltaic power projects all over India and the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries. In the beginning, these projects will be turnkey projects in which the company acts as the general contractor for the design, engineering and construction of free-field and roof-top solar installations. In addition, juwi is going to develop photovoltaic projects in India, covering the entire process - from acquisition of suitable land to the completion of the power plant. The company showcases itself at the fair “Intersolar India” in Mumbai (14th to 16th December) at booth 6165.
"India has the most attractive market in all of Asia. As one of the leading developers, juwi’s opportunities there are outstanding. 100 percent renewable energies are possible – now and not in the far future," states Rajesh Bhat, President of the juwi subsidiary in India. “If the conditions remain that attractive or even continue to improve, we will certainly create a lot of new jobs in our Indian offices. Our activities in India will remarkably contribute to a change towards global sustainability to the benefit of present and future generations,” say Amiram Roth-Deblon and Dirk Lamottke, Directors of juwi India Renewable Energies.
Within the scope of the "Global Climate Change Initiative", the Indian government is planning to increase the total installed capacity of solar energy to 20,000 MW in the year 2022. Based on the promising conditions in India and juwi’ s rich expertise in developing and implementing renewable energy projects worldwide "juwi India Renewable Energies" already expects strong growth within the next two years. To date, the juwi group has built more than 1,400 PV systems with a total capacity of over 600 megawatts. Amongst the most famous are the solar parks in Lieberose (53 MW) and in Waldpolenz (40 MW). The two German parks belong to the top ten of the world’s biggest solar parks. The foundation of a subsidiary in India is not the first new market entry for juwi’s solar business in 2010. This year the project developer already has entered into the promising solar markets of Great Britain, Slovakia and Bulgaria.
